The Top 10 Must-Have Laptop Accessories by John San Filippo
The Top 10 Must-Have Laptop Accessories
John San Filippo
Youve laid out good money for your laptop computer, but youre not done spending just yet.
There are a few more laptop accessories you may want to consider to make the package complete.
1: Laptop Case / Bag
As the newest member of the mobile computing force, youre required to take an oath of safe computing.
And that starts with investing in the most important of laptop accessories - a laptop bag. You cant very well go traipsing around the world with your laptop exposed to the elements.
When it comes to laptop bags, you can spend $25 for a small case made from less expensive materials on up to several hundred dollars for one made of top-grain cowhide.
However, in the end, the most important consideration is whether your case can hold your laptop, plus all the other goodies that go with it like the ones described here.
2: Software
Did your laptop come with software If so, did it come with the right software - the software you actually need to perform whatever tasks you need to perform
Dont just assume you have everything you need. Youll probably need to add some software, as well as go online to update the software that was included.
3: A Real USB Mouse
Trackpads and eraser nubs that fill an obvious need. However, given the option, most people would rather user a real mouse.
If you stop and think for a moment, youre likely to realize that many places where youll be computing actually are suitable for a real mouse.
So one of the most useful laptop accessories you can buy is a USB mouse, keep it in your bag, and use it whenever youre able.
4: A Cat5 Ethernet Cable
Your built-in Ethernet port wont do you much good if you get to your hotel room, discover an Ethernet connection, and dont have a cable. Some hotels provide them; others dont. Always come prepared with the right cable.
5: A Standard Telephone Cable
The same holds true for your modem connection. If you dont have a cable to get you from your computer to the phone jack, youre not going anywhere in cyberspace.
6: Disposable Cleansing Cloths
Over time, the display on your laptop is going to get dusty, or even smudgy. Youre playing Russian roulette with your laptop if you attempt to clean your display with paper towels and spray cleaners.
Instead, use disposable cleansing cloths. These essential laptop accessories are designed specifically to clean laptop displays. Always have a stash on hand.
7: USB Drive
A USB drive is a storage device about the size of your thumb that plugs directly into a USB port.
Capacity-wise, theyre relatively small - usually well under 100 MB. However, theyre very useful for moving files quickly and easily from one computer to another, e.g., moving a PowerPoint presentation from your laptop to your business associates laptop.
A USB drive also makes a great temporary backup medium for the really important files you create on the road.
8: Blank CD-R Discs
Youve just finished your big sales presentation. Someone from the audience approaches you afterward and asks for a copy of the presentation.
Youll make a better impression if you:
a ask the person for their email address and tell them youll email the presentation later
b ask for their physical address and tell them youll mail a CD later
c burn them a CD of the presentation on the spot.
In case you didnt figure it out, the answer is c. Always be prepared with these inexpensive laptop accessories.
9: Stereo Headset
Its great to be able to watch DVD movies no matter where you are. Imagine watching your favorite flick at 30,000 feet.
Theres just one problem.
The family in the row behind you has absolutely no interest in hearing the dialog from Pulp Fiction.
Do yourself and everyone around you a favor. When youre watching movies or listening to music in public, use your headphones.
10: Security Device
Laptop security devices come in many shapes and sizes.
For example, most laptops include a security dock that allows you to attach your laptop to some immovable object via cable, much like youd lock up your bicycle outside the grocery store.

How To Quickly Fix Nagging DVD Drive Problems by Otis F Cooper
How To Quickly Fix Nagging DVD Drive Problems
Otis F Cooper
You really enjoy those dvd movies and games and the last thing you need or want is to experience problems with your dvd drive.
To prepare for the possibility of having your dvd drive leaving you out in the cold one morning,we will dicuss problems that may cause dvd failure as well as the procedures you should take to correct these problems.
As with all drives,be sure to double check the failure. If the dvd drive will not read the dvd, try running another dvd in the drive. Make sure the dvd has no scratches and is clean.
Visually inspect the drive if the drive is external and if the drive is enternal, check the computer.Check to see if the computer has good ventilation to help keep it cool. Here are the common dvd problems with their solutions.
DVD DRIVE HAS NO POWER
First..For external drives that have no power, first check to see if anything or anyone has caused the power cord to become unplugged.Rule out the wall outlet by plugging in another device such as a radio and see if it plays.
Second...If youve proven the wall outlet to be good, but you still dont have power, check the surge protector for any signs of damage. If the surge protector is good, check the cord.
Third..If youre certain the surge protector or wall outlet is providing power, double check the cord by plugging it in a few times. If no power is present, you will have to replace the cord or the drive itself.
Internal dvd drives receive their power from the connector from the power supply.Try another connector to the drive. if the internal dvd drive still does not receive power after using another connector, the drive is faulty.
DRIVE HAS POWER BUT TRAY WONT OPEN
You may experience the tray failing to open.Should this happen, press the button a couple times to see if it will open.If the tray fail to open, reboot your computer and try to open the tray.
When rebooting the system, notice the monitor to see if the drive is recognized by the computer. Some systems will not display installed hardware during bootup. If this is the case, you will have to access your BIOS to check if the dvd drive is being registered.
You can also try the manual eject button on the drive to get it to open.Use something very small but firm to press in the pinhole in front of the drive to open the tray.
Shut the computer off and unplug it.Use something like a long paperclip to insert in the pinhole to open the tray. The tray may open a couple inches and you can grab it with your fingers to open it completely.
DRIVE IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY WINDOWS
Be sure the operating system is recognizing the drive by clicking on My Computer.Windows XP will show "drives with removable storage".If your drive is present, highlight the drive, right click and select properties.Click on properties and you should see "this drive is working properly".
If you see another message such as "this drive is not working properly",you may be able to update the device driver. If the drive is not present in My computer, reboot the computer and access the cmos setup.
In the cmos setup, the dvd drive should be present. The drive may not be properly installed or one of the cables have become disconnected if the drive is missing
If you check the drive cables and are certain they are connected correctly,it may be that the data cable is faulty and the drive controller may be at fault. And we cant overlook the fact that the drive itself may be bad.
DRIVE HAS POWER BUT WILL NOT READ DVD
First..try another dvd since a dirty or scratched dvd may not play.If the new dvd fail to play as well, check to see if the operating system is recognizing the drive
Click on My Computer and highlight the dvd drive.Right click and select properties. The statement "This device is working properly" should be present. If not or you see another message, try to update the device driver.
In the My Computer screen, highlight the dvd drive, and select the Properties screen, select Drivers, and then select update device driver.
Another cause may be the Windows Registry is corrupt. You can use software utilities such as PC Bug Doctor to repair your registry. Download this free repair utility at http://www.pcbugdoctor.com/download.html.
To make a backup of your registry with Windows 98, just go to Start, select Run, enter scanregw and click OK. This will run Scanregw.exe.
Restore your registry in Windows 98 by typing scanreg / restore at the Dos Prompt. You can also use.Winrescue XP at http://www.superwin.com/index.htm is a neat little utility for backup and restore of Windows XP.
The dvd drive or writer is an awesome storage and data backup drive.Use it to the fullest to enjoy music, video, audio, and more.Understand everything about this drive before something goes wrong.
Should your audio die on you, check the dvd to be sure it is not dirty or damaged.Look at the audio cable for signs of looseness.Inspect this cable to be sure it is inserted in the connector completely and that is indeed inserted in the correct connector.
If you have a dvd drive, take the time to visit the support web site and download the latest device drivers or patches to keep your drive running at peak performance.

Guidelines for Printing Great Photos at Home by Kelly Paal
Guidelines for Printing Great Photos at Home
Kelly Paal
So you have this great digital camera and you’ve taken lots of great photos. Now what Well you could go to a store and have them print your images for you, but isn’t that what you did with film The point of all this great digital technology is that you can print your own photos at home without having to pay someone else to do it. Here are some tips to help you get started:
1. It’ll seem like a lot of money at first but spend the money to get a good printer. Six color at least. Ink jets are wonderful for printing snapshots. You won’t need more than that. Also look around at the computer brands that sell computer packages for digital printing, the printer that they recommend is perfect for printing photos at home.
2. Buy some photo editing software. There are lots of brands out there many of them for pros but you can easily find software under one hundred dollars that will have lots more options than you will ever use. Look for software that has automatic settings so that the computer can automatically color correct, auto focus, brighten, or darken, etc. At least until you learn number 3.
3. Learn your equipment. Take the time play with the settings. Don’t try to print perfect photos right away. Most people with a little time and practice can learn to do basic photo special effects. Give yourself the time to learn.
4. There is one place that you are going to have to spend some money and it’s on paper. You can have a great image but unfortunately you cannot skimp on paper. Get the nice thick glossy paper, it’s worth it. I’ve tried the cheaper paper, which is good for test prints, but you need the high quality stuff for good prints.
5. DPI, dots per inch. Depending on your printer and your software you may be able to print up to 1200 dpi which is probably unnecessary for what you’re doing. For up to a 4 by 6 inch print you only need about 300 dpi. Most people cannot see the difference between a 300 dpi an a 600 dpi at 4 by 6 inches. For 5 by 7 or 8 by 10 you can go up to 600 dpi.
These steps will help you on your way to printing great digital photos at home. Remember though make sure that you have fun printing all those memories.
FYI Just so that you have a frame of reference, I’m a professional photographer and I have a six color ink jet that I paid less than $300 for and photo editing software that I paid less than $100. I print my 5 by 7 images for shows at 600 dpi.

Look Into My Eyes - New Webcam Technology by Robert Palmer
Look Into My Eyes - New Webcam Technology
Robert Palmer
If a new webcam technology from Microsoft get the go-ahead, then instant messaging could get a whole lot more interesting.
Currently under development at the Microsoft research labs in Cambridge, England, the new webcam, i2i consists of two lenses, which carefully follows an individuals movement. Using an exclusively developed algorithm to cleverly blend what each lens is seeing, resulting in the creation of an accurate stereo "cylopean" image.
All very technical, but for the 18.5 million people source Microsoft who regularly use webcams while they are using instant messengers, i2i means that it will appear as if users are looking into each others eyes.
Antonio Criminisi, lead researcher of Microsofts Machine Learning and Perception Group, said.
"We were able to come up with an algorithm that was able to take two images and capture a corresponding map in 3D. Using this powerful technology, we can now synthetically create an image as if the person is looking straight into your eyes."
According to Dr Criminisi, the biggest challenge for the backroom boys at Microsoft was in calculating how the visual brain works. In particular, how it sees and sorts out colors, shapes and distances.
"Essentially, what we have done is replace human eyes with cameras and the human brain with a computer."
The real magic behind this technology is the newly developed stereo algorithm, which makes it possible to accurately reconstruct a 3D, geometric image in real time and on a standard computer. Fundamentally, this is the same technology which was used to recreate the stunning 3D images of the Martian surface, which were beamed back by the NASA rover.
With the ability to generate realistic looking background images in order that users can pretend they are somewhere other than where they really are! Commenting, Dr Criminisi said.
"This is important for privacy, as I may not want you to see how untidy my bedroom is."
A feature likely to capture the teens market is that of Smart Icons. Instead of typing in the usual pictorial emotion e.g. : i2i can superimpose free floating, 3D ones which can then be instructed to float freely around a persons head or anywhere else for that matter.
While Dr Criminisi admits there are still issues to iron out before the project is passed on to Microsoft Development, he is pleased with what has been achieved in under two years. Dr Criminisis team is already experimenting with code which enables users to create their own wrap-around avatar, 3D face and then have it move as if it were their own.

DVD ROMs by John Gibb
DVD ROMs
John Gibb
DVD CD ROMs have become predominantly the most used CD drive for desktop and notebook computers. They are very reliable and now come as a standard in most computers. If you are looking for a laptop then make sure it has a DVD ROM, this will give you extra speed for normal Cds, and you will be able to watch your favourite DVDs while you travel.
I often sit up late watching DVDs on my laptop after a hard working day.
If you are interested in Desktop computers, then the DVD drive will enable you to watch your favourite DVDs on your monitor. I currently have a 21-inch monitor and a 5.1 computer surround kit. This brings DVDs to life and acts just like a home cinema system, however the quality is even better.
Most DVD ROMs will come in speeds ranging from 4 to 10 speed. This is more than adequate to watch the latest DVDs, play the latest games, and use and install the latest software. Normal CDs can only perform at a certain speed, and it is a lot lower than what the DVD ROM offers. I hope you have a better understanding of why DVD ROMs are now used more than a normal CD nowadays. It is basically all part of bringing a home entertainment system at the best quality closer to everyone.

How To Format A Hard Drive by Brian Maroevich
How To Format A Hard Drive
Brian Maroevich
Heres how to format a hard drive Legal Stuff: We are not responsible for any damages, lost data, or anything of the sort...
If you have a computer, you surely know what a hard drive is. If you dont have one, or simply dont know what a hard drive is, then this article will begin with a short description of the hard drive. Then we will cover formating a hard drive...
Step 1: What Is A Hard Disk Drive
A hard disk drive in computing is a type of storage device made up of hard disk platters, a spindle, read and write heads read and write arms, electrical motors, and integrated electronics contained inside an airtight enclosure.
Now you know what the hard drive is. Lets stick to the point and start with the information on the title of this article. How to format a hard disk drive....
Step 2...
First of all, you should have a reason if you really want to learn how to format a hard drive. But dont forget that formating a hard drive does NOT permanently delete your data!
Of course, when you format your hard drive you think that the data is really deleted, but that is not the case.
The fact is that the data you have "deleted" can be restored. Nonetheless, you should not experiment with formatting a hard drive because you never know what may happen. Of course, it also depends on the software you use, for example, there are such products that will permanently delete the data you want and then you can continue the process of how to format a hard drive.
Step 3...
In fact there is nothing so difficult in it. You first need to decide what operating system you intend to load after formating a hard drive.
It is best and easiest to use a boot disk for that Operating System, such as MS Dos6.2 or Windows95b or Windows98SE. You will need the proper Windows95/98 boot disk in order to load these operating systems on the computer, else it will reject loading due to the wrong Operating System on the computer.
Step 4...
Then you will have to insert your boot disk in the floppy drive and start the computer.
Once the system has completed booting and an A: prompt appears. You will need to type format C: /s and then press Enter. The function of this command is to tell the system to format your "C" drive and when it is finished to copy the system files to the drive.
The "/s" switches for "System". You can format a different drive this way by using a different drive letter.
Step 5...
After that you will see on the screen the following text: "WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK DRIVE C: WILL BE LOST! Proceed with Format Y/N" and if you really want to continue, type [Y] and then press Enter.
Your screen should display the size of your drive and a countdown in percentage of formatting completed. Depending on your computers speed and the size of the drive it can take from a few minutes to over 15 minutes.
When it reaches 100% complete, you will see a new message: FORMAT COMPLETE. SYSTEM TRANSFERRED. This message is to indicate that the files required to boot your computer from the hard drive have been copied from the floppy to the hard drive.
The computer can now boot from the hard drive without a boot disk in the floppy drive.
The last message that will appear on your screen is the following: "Volume label 11 characters, ENTER for none" You can either press any key to continue, or simply to press Enter. And now, you can finally begin to load your Operating System.
Keep in mind that you can receive an error message, which says "insufficient memory to load system files". If you do receive such message, do not worry. It is caused by the lack of a memory manager loaded at boot and your PC can only access the first 1mg of ram memory.
You can handle this situation with two options. The first one is to omit the /s switch when formatting. You should do it by typing this: FORMAT C: and then press Enter. Then when the format is complete, manually add the system files to your hard drive by using this command: SYS C: and press Enter again.
The second solution is to load a memory manager in order to overcome this issue. If you dont have any you can easily download one from one of the million sites on the Internet.
Step 6...
You see, we have finally reached the end of How To Format A Hard Drive. and consequently – the end of this article. Now you surely know how to format a hard drive. But, once again, dont play with the commands if you are not serious about formating a hard drive.
Even if the data is restorable you may do something wrong to your computer. That is why, you should be careful! And now, good luck!

5 Tips For Buying The Right Laptop Computer by John San Filippo
5 Tips For Buying The Right Laptop Computer
John San Filippo
Its easy to be intimidated by all the laptop models on the market today. There are literally dozens and dozens in every price range.
The key to finding the right one for you is to step back and consider exactly how you plan to use your laptop. When you define what you need before you go shopping, buying the right machine becomes much easier.
Here are 5 basic factors to consider:
1. SIZE
In the world of mobile computing, size definitely matters. The size of a laptop affects two key areas: portability and display size.
If youre always on the go and will be using your computer only in short bursts, a so-called ultralight will save you some shoulder strain.
On the other hand, if youre going to spend hours in front of your laptop, a larger display may be in order.
Today, some laptop displays exceed 17 inches, rivaling the display size of many desktop systems. The down side is that these monsters can easily weigh three times as much as an ultralight.
2. HARD DRIVE
Speaking of size, what about the size of the hard drive One way to approach this issue is to ask yourself the following question:
Will this be my primary computer, or will it supplement my desktop system
If the former, you should look for a bigger hard drive - 60 GB or more.
If the latter, you may be able to make it with a 20-30 GB hard drive.
But even this isnt absolute.
If, for example, you plan to copy a huge MP3 library from your desktop system to your laptop to make your music library portable, youd be well advised to err on the side of too big.
3. MEMORY
In determining the right amount of system memory, or RAM, take a look at the ways in which you intend to use your laptop:
If your needs are somewhat mundane - email, spreadsheets, word processing, etc. - 256 MB of RAM should be plenty. This is a common configuration for many laptops, so it means you probably wont need to spend extra for more RAM.
On the flip side, if youre an aspiring mobile digital photographer or videographer, you should stuff your laptop with as much RAM as it can hold.
In fact, exactly how much RAM your laptop can hold may in part drive your purchase decision. Applications for editing and manipulating multimedia content are notorious resource hogs.
4. NETWORK CONNECTIONS
Thanks in no small part to the Internet, computing in the 21st century relies heavily on being connected:
Connected to the Internet, connected to a corporate network, connected to a wireless network, connected to a home network, connected to an online service.
Your life will be easier if you buy a laptop that includes built-in means to connect to them all.
5. PRICE
If youre considering a laptop, youre probably wondering how much money youll need to spend.
A few years ago, youd be hard-pressed to find one for under $2,000. Today, there are plenty of laptops to be had for under $1,000.
Whats more, most of the major manufacturers offer a variety of financing options.
Laptop prices have come down, to be sure. However, a laptop still represents a fairly major purchase for most people.
If you take the time to search for a laptop that meets your specific needs, you should get many years of use and enjoyment from this important investment.

How To Save Big Bucks On A Laptop Computer by John San Filippo
How To Save Big Bucks On A Laptop Computer
John San Filippo
If youre a bargain shopper looking to get the most bang for your buck, youll find no shortage of deals on the Internet.
And thats particularly true in the fast-changing world of laptop computers, where youll find three bargain sources right at your fingertips:
1. Clearance Sales
Just like many brick-and-mortar retail stores, many computer manufacturer websites have clearance sections. On these web pages, you can find great deals on last years leftovers.
These are all new products unless otherwise stated and carry their original warranties. The only difference is that the price has been reduced.
Of course the manufacturers arent the only ones with clearance merchandise.
Major electronics and office supply retailers also include clearance sections on their websites, where you may be able to find the laptop bargain of your dreams.
2. Refurbished Laptops
Factory refurbs represent another great bargain opportunity. It works something like this:
Joe Blow buys a new laptop, but decides a week later he doesnt like the color.
He takes it back to the store within the stores stated return period, so the store is stuck with it.
Since they cant sell the laptop as new, the store sends it back to the manufacturer to be "refurbished."
The factory inspects that laptop to make sure everything works right, and then ships it out to a retailer that deals in refurbs.
The refurb retailer then sells it to you at a great discount off the original price.
Buying a refurb can literally save you hundreds.
3. Online Auctions
You can always logon to an auction website and find a great deal on a used laptop. However, beware!
Buying anything used carries with it some risk. Buying a used laptop carries more risk than most people should be willing to take.
When you buy a used laptop from a private party, you dont get any sort of warranty beyond DOA.
DOA stands for "dead on arrival", a common auction term that means the seller guarantees the item will work when it arrives at your house.
But what happens if your laptop dies two weeks after it arrives Youre out of luck, thats what.
There are enough bargains available on warrantied laptops that all but the most meager budgets should be able to avoid buying used.
Stick to clearance and refurb machines and youll save yourself hundreds on your next laptop computer.

Why Buy a Used Laptop Instead of New by Computers Priced Right
Why Buy a Used Laptop Instead of New
Computers Priced Right
If youre planning to purchase a laptop or notebook note that laptops and notebooks are the same thing, consider buying used or refurbished laptop. A refurbished laptop is a used laptop that has been rebuilt by a professional, and made to be like new again.
First, let us take a moment to consider your needs in a laptop. What do you plan to do with your laptop Do you your plans include the following:
Surfing the internet
Checking emails
Instant messenger
Writing papers
Printing Papers
Making spreadsheets
Slide Presentations
Playing Solitaire
Downloading MP3s
Listening to MP3s
Burning to CDs
Watching DVDs
Digital camera photo
Childrens games
Keeping bank figures
Small business use
The lists goes on...
Most used laptops will easily complete all of the above mentioned tasks for you. Whats really great is that for most current applications on a refurbished laptop, you wont notice a performance difference compared to a brand new laptop.
How is that possible to not notice a difference between a brand new laptop and a refurbished one
Thats a good question. The fact is, most current software for your computer is not designed to need the high performance of a brand new laptop. Computer manufactures are moving so fast, that software makers simply do not keep up. Most current software will run on a computer 4 times slower than the fastest laptops made.
Most current software will run flawlessly on a computer 4 times slower than the fastest laptops made.
What does that mean for you It means that its not necessary to spend $1500 or more on a top of the line laptop. Depending on your needs from your laptop, you may be able to buy a laptop for as low as $250. A $250 laptop will perform all the necessary tasks for most people. However, if you are looking for a laptop that will burn CDs and watch DVD movies, expect to spend $400 - $750.
Dell says I can buy a brand new laptop for $699, why should I buy a used one
This is a very smart, and very much overlooked, marketing trick. Let me start by saying that I think Dell is the best computer manufacture on the market, and I endorse their products myself. However, try this yourself on any given day with any manufacture : Today I went to do www.dell.com and browsed new inspiron laptops The Dell line designed for home users. On the home page was an ad for a laptop "from" $699. This is after a $100 rebate, so make that price $799. I click the ad and attempt to purchase the item. I am offered to "Customize" or choose "Recommended Solutions". Customizing sounds great. Im the customer, and I should get what I want. After choosing "Customize", without selecting any upgrades at all, suddenly the price of the laptop is $1371. I dont like that, so I chose all of the lowest possible choices for all available features to achieve the lowest price. The lowest available configuration made the price $907. I dont want to give up, so I go back and choose "Recommended Solutions" because these configurations are pre-manufactured in quantity, and are therefore cheaper. Four options were offered at these prices: $949, $1249, $999, and $1319. Each one of these options was offered a $150 rebate keep in mind this is a mail-in rebate so it doesnt lower your price at checkout so respectively, if I were to purchase, then wait for my rebate, I could get a laptop for $799, $1099, $849, or $1169. Not one option was available to purchase this laptop at the advertised priced price of $699, even after a mail-in rebate! You will find the same scenario anywhere you go, no matter what manufacture.
No option was available to purchase a laptop for $699, even after a mail-in rebate!
They have to get you to buy from them somehow. All of the computer manufactures have been using this marketing technique as described above for years. Imagine if everyone knew about this and the money they could save on buying a refurbished laptop, without having to sacrifice any of their goals and needs from the computer. These manufactures would not be the same companies that they are today.
There are more reasons to consider a refurbished laptop.
Another aspect of buying a refurbished computer that should be considered is this: Most refurbished laptops available are not the "low end" home user based laptops. Examples of home user laptops are: Compaq Presario, Dell Inspiron, eMachines, Hewlett Packard Pavilion, Sony Vaio, and Toshiba Satellite. Refurbished laptops are almost always business model laptops that are off-lease from major corporations.
Business laptops have parts available even long after warranty expires.
Business laptops provide a better solution because they are the laptops provided by a company that are proven to work well. Examples of business laptops are: Compaq Armada, Dell Latitude, Hewlett Packard Compaq Mobile/Business Workstation, and Toshiba Tecra. Home user laptops, believe it or not, are usually testing grounds for new engineering of laptop equipment. Home user laptops are typically given shorter warranty, and are designed to last until that warranty expires. After the laptops warranty has expired, the newer "experimental" home user model available uses different parts. Since the older models are no longer under warranty, and they use "out of date" parts, the manufacture no longer stocks the parts. Therefore, when your home user laptop has an out of warranty problem which it will, the parts that are available to fix your laptop are very expensive, if they are available at all. This leaves the home user with the attitude to "throw away and buy new", which is exactly what the manufacture wants you to do.
Since business laptops use technology that is proven to work, their parts seldom change from model to model. Due to this fact as well as the fact that business laptops are leased to corporations, huge stock piles of parts are kept at the manufacture for extended warranties as well as out of warranty purchases. For example, you can still call Dell today to order parts for an out of warranty laptop that was manufactured in 1997 or 1998 for the same cost as laptops manufactured in 2002.
Business laptops are more expensive than home laptops as much as $3000, buy used and save a ton.
Business laptops, due to their stability, are far more expensive than home user laptops. Using the Dell example, the cheapest Dell business laptop Latitude, currently available is $2000. Many of the refurbished laptops being sold today for $250-$800 originally sold for $3000 or more. This means you can buy refurbished and save as much as 80% over buying new.
Purchase a refurbished laptop that will suit your needs and last for years, at a great savings.
What all of this means is that if you purchase a refurbished laptop, you can expect the following:
Able to complete all tasks necessary to an everyday user
Half the cost of a brand new home user laptop
Up to 80% less than a brand new business laptop
Proven technology that will last for years
Parts always available if your laptop has a problem
Take control in your life, and put extra money in your pocket for other things that are important to you!
