Diamond Promise rings – For When You Mean It. by Peter Leigh
Diamond promise rings are quite common, but many are not all that sure what they are. What is a promise ring? And what does it mean? Promise rings (all of them, not just diamond promise rings, I just love diamond ones) are a symbol of a promise made between 2 people that both intend to keep. Not just any old promise, there are lots of those. But a really serious promise. One that is so important between two people that they are both prepared to make a public statement of their promise and intention to keep it by the wearing of a diamond promise ring. They can also be known variously as a pre engagement ring, or a purity ring. Each is slightly different. Sometimes they are called a friendship ring, perhaps incorrectly.A pre engagement ring is a symbol of an intention between 2 people to get engaged at some time in the future. A diamond promise ring of this type is a serious commitment. One not to be undertaken lightly. A statement to all who see it that these 2 people are committed to each other. That although the time is not right, for various reasons, to get engaged, they have both been prepared to make that serious commitment regardless.A friendship ring is slightly different and may not be, strictly speaking, a promise ring. It is more commonly a symbol of a very strong friendship between 2 people. There is of course, nothing wrong with this at all, just that it is not strictly a symbol of a promise. Just a symbol of a special feeling. For example where 2 strong friends find that their lives take them to different parts of the world they can exchange diamond promise rings to seal their continuing friendship.A diamond purity ring, on the other hand, is a symbol of a very strong promise of a very serious nature between 2 people. This is perhaps the most well known and most serious type of diamond promise ring, and perhaps requires the most thought, and the most commitment.Often entered into between 2 younger people, a purity ring is a promise about sexual purity. Often made between 2 young people for religious reasons, it is a promise to abstain from sexual activity until a certain time, usually their marriage. And it need not always be a promise made between 2 people, it can also be a promise to oneself. A display of a promise that a young person shall remain pure until the time is right. Still, though, a very serious promise. Some consider that a purity ring of this type is a promise between 2 “people”, in that the other half of the partnership is God. That this is a covenant or a promise made between a young person and his or her God.The types of promise rings described are not exclusive. Diamond promise rings can be exchanged really for any reason. However it is very important, firstly, that both people understand exactly the nature of what is being promised. If possible write it down so there can be no misunderstandings. If it can be encapsulated in a short phrase why not get it inscribed on the ring? And why diamond promise rings, rather than other types of promise rings? Just because diamonds are the best. Nothing beats a diamond for a ring. And because they aren’t cheap, so the mere fact that you’ve both made a promise that you are prepared to cement by the serious commitment of spending money means that it is very important to you. A cheap ring really doesn’t mean so much.So why not display to the world the seriousness of your promise by the wearing of a diamond promise ring? There’s no better way to make a commitment to each other until the time is right. The Bigger the Carat the Better the Wedding by Donna Monday
The Bigger the Carat the Better the Wedding Donna Monday Ahh . . . sweet romance. The flowers. The chocolate. The late night whispers of “I love you.” For most people in love, the culmination of months of togetherness and special friendship comes down to one single moment: The marriage proposal - - featuring a simple, but elegant, diamond engagement ring. Of course, if you’re a celebrity, a simple ring may not have enough wattage to suit your tastes. Thus, we see many celebrities sporting five-carat to seven-carat diamond studded engagement and wedding rings. Well, if you can afford it, why not flaunt it, right Take for instance the recent marriages of Britney Spears and Star Jones. When Britney Spears got engaged to her former back up dancer, Kevin Federline, she promptly bought herself an awesome-looking five-carat diamond engagement ring. Does anyone really believe that Kevin bought this for her on his dancer’s salary Britney bought herself the ring she felt she deserved – nothing wrong with that. Then, she and Kevin quickly made the leap to matrimony in a matter of months with a surprisingly nice no lip kissing of Madonna wedding ceremony. As for Star Jones, it’s not known whether her stunning seven-carat princess cut diamond ring was bought or donated, but she too happily skipped off to a wedding ceremony with all the trimmings. So, does all this extra diamond wattage mean that celebrities have a better wedding ceremony than everyone else Absolutely, not. There’s absolutely no proof that their multi-carat diamond rings and fancy wedding accommodations gave them any more satisfaction at the alter than Joe and Jane Doe’s down right sparse nuptials in a run-down back yard. Buying the biggest and fanciest diamond engagement ring on the planet doesn’t guarantee anything but a nice piece of ice jewelry to show off to your family and friends. Other than that, celebrities have the same odds for a successful, happy union as the rest of us. And that’s the way it should be.

Celtic Diamond Rings – A Combination of History And Romance by Peter Crump
The symbolism of Celtic Diamond Rings is relevant to all cultures. Love and friendship intertwined in the Celtic symbols on the ring have relevance to every couple contemplating marriage. The ancient Celts used the symbols of the Claddagh to show that marriage is a partnership where love prevails throughout any hardship. The Celtic Daimond Rings are well-known for the symbol of a heart with two crowns, both cradled by linked hands. You don’t have to be engaged to be married to wear diamond and emerald claddagh rings. The way you wear the ring signifies whether or not you are romantically attached. For unmarried girls, wearing the rings with the heart facing outward means that you are free, while wearing the heart inwards on the claddagh ring sends a message that you are not free for a romantic fling. You can choose a variety of stones for your Claddagh ring. All types of this ring have a stone, usually a diamond, an emerald or a ruby, but any precious gemstone can be included. In the heart Claddagh, the ring itself is heart shaped and as Celtic Diamond Rings this makes the perfect engagement ring because of its unique style. Having a pearl in the ring evokes a mystical quality, but you can also have it surrounded by tiny diamonds for the ultimate piece of jewellery. Diamond and emerald Claddagh rings make really great gifts for any occasion and are a delight for those that receive them. Knots are extremely popular in Celtic rings. The lover’s knot consists of a series of designs that are interwoven into a continuous loop to symbolize the eternity of love. Different strands of the knot represent the different directions that individual lives tend to take during a romance or marriage, all leading back to the core of the relationship. These knots also represent one’s Irish heritage and the ancient symbolism of the Celtic traditions. The Celtic ring itself has an interesting history. The designer, Richard Joyce, was sold into slavery in Algeria. After his escape he made his way back to Ireland and his sweetheart. During captivity, he learned the art of making rings and he designed the Claddagh as a symbol of his undying love for his bride-to-be. Instead or meaning that marriage was a bondage, the Celtic rings mean marriage and love represent freedom. 3 Stone Diamond Rings – Three Times As Nice! by Peter Crump
It is said that the stones in 3 stone diamond rings represent the past, the present and the future. Just as a couple unite these things when they join together in marriage, so three stone diamond rings represent perfectly all that has made each partner what they are today, the present moment that they share, and the future into which they now walk together. Just like the ring itself, the three stones in 3 stone diamond rings celebrate the timelessness of your relationship. Three stone diamond rings are popularly given as anniversary gifts, though they are also used as engagement rings. Diamond rings are invariably given as an expression of love, and the deep symbolism of the triad of stones in this type of ring make it a gift that is rich in sentiment. Three stone diamond rings are available with a variety of different shaped stones. Though round diamonds are eternally popular, they are often seen to best effect in a solitaire type setting. Oval, princess and emerald cuts are popular in 3 stone diamond rings. The extended length of both the oval and emerald shapes are particularly attractive when placed in a three stone setting. This setting is also used with great effectiveness to contrast stones of differing colors – the depth of color of flanking emeralds or sapphires can enhance the beauty of a central clear diamond. This setting is ideal for those who would like to add a splash of color to their diamond jewelry. So whether you are celebrating your engagement, an anniversary, or simply want to say that you love her, a 3 stone diamond ring is a gift that will combine deep significance with triple beauty. Regardless of your taste or your budget you will be able to find the ring that says I love you in three different ways. Diamond Ring Settings – Display your Diamond with Style by Peter Crump
There are almost as many ways to set a diamond as there are diamonds themselves, and diamond ring settings can influence the appearance and character of your ring as much as the diamond itself. From simple, unadorned mountings to settings richly set with diamonds, the ring setting you select can support your diamond with understated elegance or with exuberant flair. Good diamond ring settings show off your diamond.Certain diamond ring stores will have a wider variety of diamond ring settings than others, so whether you are buying a ring off the shelf or having one custom made just for you, ask to browse the store’s ring catalog before you select the right jeweller for you. Simple settings, like the prong setting, are more commonly available, so be prepared to do a little extra legwork if you are looking for a jeweller that sells diamond rings with more usual settings. The prong setting is most commonly used for solitaire rings, and can set a single stone off perfectly. This kind of setting can allow your diamond to sit either close to the hand, or elevate it for further prominence. A prong setting, which creates a sort of basket shape in which the diamond rests, exposes more of the diamond than other types of diamond ring settings, and while this can display a diamond beautifully, it also leaves the stone more exposed, and vulnerable to damage. Another diamond ring setting is known as the bezel setting, in which the diamond is surrounded by a kind of collar. This type of setting is more secure than the prong setting, and is a popular choice for this reason. This type of setting can provide a ring with a more streamlined, understated look. A channel set ring is one in which several stones are aligned in a channel – this setting is ideal for those who would like more than one stone in their ring. This style is popularly chosen for engagement rings, as the tidy line created by this setting allows for the easy matching of a wedding ring. A setting similar in appearance to this setting is the invisible setting, in which gemstones also sit alongside one another. It is said that diamond ring settings are representative of the foundation of your marriage, so as with the diamond you select, choose a setting that best reflects your feelings for one another. Try to visit as many diamond ring stores as you can – and when you have found the right setting for you, you will fall in love all over again. Diamond Rings – Giving Them the Care They Deserve by Peter Crump
While diamonds are, without question, one of the hardest, strongest and most durable substances known to man, diamond rings nonetheless require and deserves the right kind of loving care to keep them safe, and to ensure that they always look their best. Here are a few ways that you can lavish love on diamond rings. Because diamonds are so strong – they are commonly used as cutting tools for perforating tough materials, including other diamonds – they can damage your other jewelry, so always store your diamond rings separately from other precious items. Diamond rings can even causes scratches to other diamond jewelry, so keep these pieces in their own jewelry compartment or bag. And while the diamond itself might not be as easily damaged as other, less durable stones, a diamond ring is often most vulnerable at its setting site. Though the highest quality materials are used to hold your diamond in place, it can become dislodged during rough or manual work, so always remove your diamond rings before performing such tasks. No doubt your diamond ring is very precious to you, so it would be a dreadful shame to lose your stone. Your ring can also be damaged by some of the harsh cleaning products that you might use around your home and garden, so be sure to remove your diamond ring before your spring clean too. Wearing gloves is helpful, but to be safe, it is best to put your ring somewhere safe while you work. You can keep your diamond ring looking as clear and bright as the day you purchased it by cleaning any build up of debris using a special jewelry cleanser, or simply a mild household detergent. An old toothbrush is ideal for getting into those nooks and crannies around the diamond setting. And finally, to keep your diamond ring in beautiful condition, you can deliver it to your jeweller once or twice a year to have it professionally maintained. The staff at your jewelry store will clean your diamond ring and check for loose settings, ensuring that your ring continues to look its very best. Antique Diamond Rings – Bringing the Past Back to Life by Peter Crump
We live today in an increasingly disposable culture, where everything comes in plastic wrapping and needs to be replaced every year or so. Is it any wonder that amidst this cacophony of the temporary that many people are looking for a greater sense of permanence in the things they hope to hold dear forever? At a time when fifty percent of marriages end in divorce, choosing something that has already stood the test of time is a gesture of profound hope. Perhaps this is why, despite the huge range of modern jewelry available today, many people choose antique diamond rings. Antique diamond rings are more and more popular. An antique diamond engagement ring is the perfect way to celebrate your love. Genuine antique jewelry is sourced in many ways, from estates and antique stores, and there are many high quality jewellers who specialise in antique sales. An antique diamond ring captures a sense of longevity and offers a sense of hidden history to the celebration of a burgeoning relationship that implies the continuation of love and life. The giving of an antique diamond engagement ring can fill a time of hope with a sense of completion, the feeling that as one love affair has ended, another one begins. Antique diamond rings offer a sense of real individuality. Unlike much of the mass marketed jewelry that is available today, an antique piece is truly one of a kind. This also means, however, an antique ring comes as it is seen – unlike many modern rings that are made to order, you cannot tweak the design of a genuine antique diamond ring, or purchase it in a different color. Many designers, however, can produce a replica item, which can be altered – this provides the antique look in a brand new ring. For many people, this combines the best of both worlds. Many people find themselves with a piece of antique jewelry that carries immense sentimental value in a form they will never wear. If this is the case for you, why not consider having the stone from that old necklace recast into something else? A precious stone can be passed through the generations in many different forms. Bestow a brand new piece of jewelry the sense of history on an antique by keeping an old stone alive – make your own antique diamond ring, and keep the past alive in a modern form. Right Hand Diamond Ring by Laura Ciocan
Right Hand Diamond Ring Laura Ciocan The hottest trend in jewelry fashion, the Right Hand Diamond Ring seems to raise sales sky-high. The latest trend in diamond jewelry is the Right Hand Diamond Ring. The marketing significance load is addressing mainly to the independent career woman of the 21-st century. It stands for success, strength, self assertiveness and freedom. After the world has been filled up with the symbol of eternal love - the diamond engagement ring, the marketing strategy accompanying this old-renewed product opposes the right-hand ring to the diamond engagement rings and diamond anniversary bands. It is not only being positioned on a different hand but it also differs significantly in design. Its design purposely avoids any resemblance with matrimonial rings, uses open spaces, smaller stones instead of a single, in combinations expressing the personality and individuality of the wearer. In fact, its not at all about the right hand, as women did wear rings on their right hand fingers before this marketing concept came into being, its about what became almost an obsession for the left hand ring! And of course, after one conquest, others must follow – after the diamond engagement rings hit, the market for diamond rings still had potential! The commercial outcome is one of larger proportions, first of all because the general tendency around the world is to postpone or forego marriage, then, while the diamond engagement ring addresses only to grooms-to-be as buyers, the right hand ring addresses to both men and women. And this is how: The independent career woman The idea was to go with the new wave of feminist thinking stressing upon womens independence wish – married or not, you still have to wear a diamond ring to reassess your leading position alongside men! Its a sort of impulse for the women who are generically tired of the role of housewives and feel they can do better with their lives. So, the left hand ring stands for the labors that marriage brings along while the right hand ring reads as the careless, joyful side of life. Men also Men are also a target for this advertising technique: loving husbands are encouraged to buy a gift for their wives that will flatter not only their need for love proofs but also the thought of being valued and respected as an independent person, and not a nice accessory to men or a house decor item. And not only married men should buy right hand rings, the concept has a wider meaning: it doesnt matter if you are married or not, as long as you are involved in a love relation you should definitely consider buying a right hand ring as a gift! For years, right hand rings have also been a sign of commitment for gay couples. So, another market segment gained. All advertising that deals with aspects of human vanity has every chance to succeed, and when addressing to women, it seems that the chances are even bigger. That they prevail in beauty had been established long ago, but now it is not enough any longer as it is not enough merely being accepted into the social life. The need appeared for women to be recognized as equal in value to men or even surpassing them. Working more and earning more than ever before, women choose now to put the idea that we live in a mens world way behind them. And this intelligent marketing line is apparently indeed a huge success, as sales have been going really high! Please feel free to use this article in your Newsletter or on your website. Guide To Buy Jewelry Online by Button Song
According to Goldman Sachs, Harris Interactive, and Nielsen/NetRatings, Christmas online jewelry sales more than doubled, hitting a new record of $1.89 billion, up from $888 million last year. The jewelry sector becomes the highest riser in today’s booming online shipping. If you type “jewelry” or “diamond rings” on Google, a few hundred of jewelry retail websites comes out. To do research online before purchasing is very important. Three things consumers look for are quality, price and customer service. Good websites always states everything clearly. Blue Nile clearly states out the color, clarity, numbers of diamonds, total diamond weight, setting type, metal, and width in their diamond ring pages. There are websites stating their diamond color is F/H and clarity is VVS/VS. F color, VVS1 clarity stones are very different and much more expensive than H color and VS2 stones. How can consumers be clear with the quality they are getting? We can see that most websites have good returning policy, and the big ones offer up to 30 days returning policy. This is the most important service for online jewelry stores. Good returning policy shows the website confident with their quality and service. It covers a lot of potential risk of online jewelry shopping. Mondera, Ice and Diamond.com all provide very good customer service. Unless you are very confident and familiar with the jewelry website, purchasing from any one with poor returning policy is risky. One of the major reasons consumers purchase jewelries online, especially high end diamond pieces, is because of the price. With sufficient amount of research, you truly can purchase some high quality jewelries at 30%-60% off the retail market price. We should first understand these jewelry websites’ business model. Many of the sites are run by previous retail jewelers. They have many years’ experience and connections in the industry. They memo jewelry pieces and diamonds from wholesale vendors in New York or Los Angeles, add a margin and resell them out. Some jewelry sites are run by students fresh out of college. They create great websites, and get their vendors drop shipping directly to their consumers. Because they don’t have to pay high rent in expensive location, they don’t have the same high mark up as local jewelry stores. They highly threaten traditional jewelry stores, and with financial experts’ prediction, 1/3 of the traditional jewelry stores will either disappear or go on line in the next 5 years. Recently, I have found few companies take it to a new step. Like Dell, they manufacture jewelries and sell them directly through their website. Their prices are surprisingly low. http://www.nicerings.com is one of them. For the same high quality diamond jewelry pieces, their prices are almost 1/3 of the retail market price and ½ of other jewelry website’s price. With 30 days return guarantee and Free FedEx overnight, their existence speeds up the existing competitive jewelry industry. It is not surprising if we are going to see more and more jewelry wholesalers and manufacturers coming online in the next few years. Jewelry educational and price comparison sites are very helpful for online jewelry shoppers. Out of them, http://www.pricescope.com offers a very profound education about diamonds; and you can find very good answers to your jewelry questions in their forums. Precious Stones The Big Five-part 4 The Diamond by Sam Serio
The diamond is generally regarded as the premier gem in the world of precious stones. Of all the precious stones the diamond has the simplest composition; it is merely crystallized carbon. The most common substance that is known, a substance that is present in every plant, animal and mineral on the earth. Diamonds come mostly from the mines in South Africa, but are also found in Brazil, India, Australia and even in the United States. The diamond is the hardest substance known, being #10 on the Mohl scale, despite it’s hardness, the diamond is not indestructible; diamond will cut diamond; it can be burned in the air, being carbon and will leave behind carbon dioxide gas. The facets of a cut diamond can be worn away to some extent by the constant rubbing of clothing. The diamond is also brittle, and can fracture if struck against a hard surface. Diamonds have a wide range of color; most numerous are the whites, yellows, and browns in a great variety of shades; then come the greens; red stones of strong tints are very rare, as are also blue, which have been found almost exclusively in India; other tints of occasional occurrence are garnet, hyacinth, rose, peach-blossoms, lilac, cinnamon, and brown; black, rarities. Diamonds without tint or flaw are rare indeed and even most of the world’s famous diamonds have imperfections. The origin of the diamond’s name is the Greek word adamas, meaning unconquerable; from the same root spring our words adamant and adamantine. The origin of the diamond, according to classical mythology, was its formation by Jupiter, who transformed into stone a man, Diamond of Crete, for refusing to forget Jupiter after he had commanded all men to do so. The Facts About Diamonds A diamond’s value is based on four criteria: color, cut, clarity, and carat. The clarity and color of a diamond usually are graded. However, scales are not uniform: a clarity grade of “slightly included” may represent a different grade on one grading system versus another, depending on the terms used in the scale. Make sure you know how a particular scale and grade represent the color or clarity of the diamond you’re considering. A diamond can be described as “flawless” only if it has no visible surface or internal imperfections when viewed under 10-power magnification by a skilled diamond grader. As with other gems, diamond weight usually is stated in carats. Diamond weight may be described in decimal or fractional parts of a carat. If the weight is given in decimal parts of a carat, the figure should be accurate to the last decimal place. For example, “.30 carat” could represent a diamond that weighs between .295 - .304 carat. Some retailers describe diamond weight in fractions and use the fraction to represent a range of weights. For example, a diamond described as 1/2 carat could weigh between .47 - .54 carat. If diamond weight is stated as fractional parts of a carat, the retailer should disclose two things: that the weight is not exact, and the reasonable range of weight for each fraction or the weight tolerance being used. Some diamonds may be treated to improve their appearance in similar ways as other gemstones. Since these treatments improve the clarity of the diamond, some jewelers refer to them as clarity enhancement. One type of treatment - fracture filling - conceals cracks in diamonds by filling them with a foreign substance. This filling may not be permanent and jewelers should tell you if the diamond you’re considering has been fracture-filled. Another treatment - lasering - involves the use of a laser beam to improve the appearance of diamonds that have black inclusions or pots. A laser beam is aimed at the inclusion. Acid is then forced through a tiny tunnel made by the laser beam to remove the inclusion. Lasering is permanent and a laser-drilled stone does not require special care. While a laser-drilled diamond may appear as beautiful as a comparable untreated stone, it may not be as valuable. That’s because an untreated stone of the same quality is rarer and therefore more valuable. Jewelers should tell you whether the diamond you’re considering has been laser-drilled. Imitation diamonds, such as cubic zirconia, resemble diamonds in appearance but are much less costly. Certain laboratory created gemstones, such as lab-created moissanite, also resemble diamonds and may not be adequately detected by the instruments originally used to identify cubic zirconia. Ask your jeweler if he has the current testing equipment to distinguish between diamonds and other lab-created stones. Diamond jewelry: diamond rings, diamond earrings, diamond pendants and diamond bracelets are some of the most sought after gemstone creations. Your eyes tell you how beautiful a piece of diamond jewelry is, but how do you know you are getting your money’s worth? A little knowledge can go a long way to help you purchase a beautiful piece of diamond jewelry at a fair price. When shopping for diamond jewelry online, apply these tips. 1. Shop with companies you know or do some homework before buying to make sure a company is legitimate before doing business with it. 2. Take advantage of information and referrals from an Internet company you have come to trust. 3. Get the details about the product, as well as the merchant's refund and return policies, before you buy. 4. Look for an address to write to or a phone number to call if you have a question, a problem or need help. Wedding Rings - How to Choose a Perfect Ring by Tanya Turner
Selecting a wedding ring isn’t is easy as it looks. You are going to wear your ring for the rest of your life, so it should be something you won’t get tired of in a couple years. You will have to look at and try on many different rings before you come to a final decision and, being an intelligent consumer, you should know what your options are. First, you will have to decide how much you can afford to spend. Then, with your budget in mind, choose the material you want your ring made of. Wedding ring materials can be: - 14K or 18K yellow gold, classic and still very popular for wedding and engagement rings - white gold, which is gaining popularity because it looks stylish and very modern. Also white gold can be worn with silver or platinum jewelry and it goes with most fabrics - platinum is one of the hardest metals, which in itself makes platinum a suitable symbol for enduring love. It is also very pure: while 18 K gold contains only 75% gold, most platinum jewelry is 95% platinum. Platinum rings look similar to white gold, are very elegant and stylish, don’t scratch and don’t loose their look with the passing years. Platinum rings are the most expensive but, considering that you will wear your ring for the rest of your life, that doesn’t really matter for many couples - titanium is long lasting, light and not very expensive, so it has recently became a very popular material for wedding rings. Titanium rings are similar in appearance to white gold rings but they are so light that you can hardly feel one on your finger. Titanium is a particularly popular material for men’s wedding rings When choosing the material, think of what would work best with your clothes and the other jewelry you usually wear. Is your jewelry box filled with gold or silver? If your favorite pieces are silver, it is a good idea to get a white gold, titanium or platinum wedding ring. Alternatively, you could get two tone ring - usually made from white and yellow gold. This type of ring would match silver jewelry as well as gold. Some women also want to match their wedding rings with their engagement rings. This is certainly something to take into consideration, if you plan to wear both rings on the same hand. Another option is to wear your wedding ring on the left hand and your engagement ring on your right hand - in which case they should probably still be the same color, but don’t have to match so closely. Which wedding ring style to choose? There are many styles available, so everybody can find a ring to suit their tastes. When it comes to style, though, the first thing you have to decide is if you both will wear similar rings or if each will select one that expresses his or her personality. The most popular styles are: - traditional plain bands - even though they are plain, they will always be stylish and fashionable. These are also best suited for men who aren’t accustomed to wearing jewelry - bands with beaded edges are a little more elaborate - Two-tone bands which can be worn with either gold or silver jewelry - Celtic wedding rings are really hot how. Covered with ancient knotwork designs, they look really stylish - Solitaire rings with a single precious stone - Solitaries with accents - rings with a large stone and several smaller stones around it - Channel diamond rings The best gem stones for wedding rings Diamonds are unbeatable favorites for wedding rings and with good reason - not only are diamonds the most beautiful and expensive of all precious stones, but they are also the hardest. Other hard stones are rubies and sapphires. Gemstones like amethyst or aquamarine are too soft, which makes them unsuitable for a wedding ring that you are going to wear every day. No matter which style and material you chose, you want a ring that would be comfortable on your finger. For this reason it is always best to go with a ring that is smooth around the edges. A Diamond Anniversary Ring – The Perfect Way To Seal Your Love. by Peter Crump
Some time ago you both made a promise. A promise to each other. Now it’s time to recognise that you both meant that promise, and that now you both still mean it. There’s no better way to do that than with a gift of a diamond anniversary ring. Well maybe there is. Two diamond anniversary rings, one for him and one for her.Diamond anniversary rings are also called eternity rings. That’s because that’s how long you are both making your pledge to each other. The tradition of celebrating an anniversary of marriage began in medieval times when the only anniversaries celebrated were the 25 and 50 year anniversaries. Then a husband would crown his wife with a wreath of silver for 25 years and of gold for 50 years. Nowadays there is more than just the silver and gold anniversaries. The first is paper, the second wood, third leather and so on. Diamond is number 60.So you should traditionally wait 60 years for diamonds. But why wait? To wait for 60 years of marriage for a magnificent diamond anniversary ring seems a little silly. And it is, of course, possible to buy an anniversary ring that doesn’t have any diamonds, but that isn’t an anniversary ring to me. There has to be diamonds. The design of a diamond anniversary ring is very different to that of, say, an engagement ring. Whereas an engagement ring is designed to show off only one, or a very small number of diamonds, a diamond anniversary ring usually has a larger number. Sometimes the diamonds go all the way around the ring. The symbolism of an anniversary diamond ring is part of the design. The reason for the diamonds going all the way around the ring is to symbolise a never ending circle of love. No beginning and no end. That doesn’t mean that all diamond anniversary rings have diamonds all the way around them. For a start that may be unaffordable for some. Plus there are some stunning designs in diamond anniversary rings which have only a few diamonds, but larger ones. One of the most in demand of these types of anniversary rings is the 3 stone diamond anniversary ring. Featuring one larger and two identical smaller diamonds, the 3 stone diamond anniversary ring is rich in meaning. The three stone diamond anniversary ring symbolises the past, present and future all bound together. And why not add a personal touch to your ring? The diamond anniversary ring that you both select will have a special meaning to you both. Why not engrave that meaning on the ring? Why not record the number of years you have been married on the ring? A special message of love? Anything, as long as it’s short. And should you both have one, or just her? Well certainly it is less common for the male to have an anniversary ring, but certainly not unheard of. However it would be prudent to consider the design of the rings. It would be better if the two rings were designed to be complementary. But not the same. His ring should be larger, or wider, than hers, to match his finger size. More masculine.Talk to your jeweller about designing a matching pair of diamond anniversary rings if you are both to wear one. But whichever you finally choose, a diamond anniversary ring is the only gift to celebrate your anniversary. Alternatives to Diamond Rings – What Choices Do You Have? by Peter Crump
There is little doubt that planning a wedding can be one of the most expensive times in your life, and the various costs can seem particularly draining as you struggle to find the funds to allow you set up home and begin your new life together. So for many couples, jewelry is not a priority at this time, but as even frugal lovers want to celebrate their love by purchasing an engagement ring, many couples are wondering whether there are any good alternatives to diamond rings available. Thankfully, the answer is yes, and you won’t have to compromise on quality to find a beautiful alternative to a diamond ring. There is no law that says that an engagement ring must include a diamond, this is simply a tradition, and throughout the ages traditions have been constantly enhanced or modified to render familiar things more personal. These days, many brides-to-be are selecting other stones as alternatives to diamond rings, choosing perhaps their birthstone, or a gem that is available in a color they love. There are many alternatives to diamond rings available, and many of these at prices a fraction of the cost of a diamond. But to many women, an engagement ring is not the same without that many faceted, brilliant white stone nestled at its centre. But for those who want the fire of diamonds without the price tag, there are real alternatives to diamond rings, the latest and most impressive of which is moissanite. This gem can be grown artificially, which reduces the cost to the consumer, while retaining – and some experts would even argue that it improves upon – the brilliance of the diamond. But if you are proposing to your sweetheart, be sure to let her know the gem that you have chosen for her. While moissanite is undoubtedly a beautiful stone, the ring your offer your bride-to-be is symbolic of your future together, and honestly is an enormously important part of this. So let her know that you have chosen for her an alternative to a diamond ring, so that she can appreciate her moissanite stone it all its beauty. Alternatives to diamond rings can be found, at a much reduced cost and looking just as good. A Unique Diamond Engagement Ring – In Platinum by Peter Crump
Diamond engagement rings for many years typically came in the traditional form of a gold band with a solitaire diamond setting, but as wedding etiquette has evolved over the years to include the more idiosyncratic tastes of individual couples, so are there now many shapes and makes of diamond engagement ring available. An engagement ring is hopefully something that a bride will wear forever, and as such, it should encapsulate her personality, so that regardless of the shifting of fashions, it will remain something that she loves and treasures. An increasing popular choice for engagement and wedding rings is platinum. One of the rarest of the precious metals, it is strong and sturdy, with a subtle style that is the perfect accompaniment to any precious stone. It is the unique combination of simplicity and luster that have made the choice of a diamond engagement ring in platinum increasingly popular, as its wonderful sheen sets off the cut and brilliance of a diamond beautifully. The popularity of diamond engagement rings in platinum is also due to that material’s eminent practicality. Platinum is extremely hardwearing and resistant to the scratches and other damage that gold rings are often prone to. Platinum doesn’t tarnish, and for those with sensitive skin, it is also hypoallergenic, making it comfortable to wear. The sturdiness and durability of platinum make it a popular choice for men’s rings, but its simple understated beauty lends itself to diamond engagement rings also. Platinum is the perfect choice for those who prefer the look of white gold to yellow, and its durable nature makes it the perfect compliment to the enduring beauty of a diamond. A diamond engagement ring in platinum combines beauty and durability in a unique package. The rarity of platinum compliments perfectly the uniqueness of each diamond, ensuring that a platinum diamond engagement ring will be a unique symbol as peerless as your love. Choosing a Moissanite Bracelet. by Peter Crump
Choosing a moissanite bracelet will add a touch of glamour to any outfit, without hiking up the price of your beauty to bankruptcy levels! Every woman wants to look a million dollars, but in the absence of a lottery win, she might not necessarily to be able to pay the matching price. So if you want to add some simple elegance to your favorite outfit, a moissanite bracelet might be your perfect choice. A moissanite tennis bracelet is one of life’s simple beauties. So called because of Chris Evert’s loss of a diamond strand bracelet on court during the 1987 US Open Tennis Tournament, tennis bracelets combine simplicity and extravagance all in one. Chris refused to continue playing tennis until the safety of her bracelet was assured and it was safely back on her wrist, and with a moissanite tennis bracelet, you can be sure that you will be a show-stopper too. While a chunky bangle can add a casually stylish air to an outfit, a moissanite bracelet adds a mature and subtle style. While earrings and necklace draw attention to themselves, a moissanite bracelet brings an understated brilliance that adds intrigue to your look. Nestling under your sleeve, or resting against your wrist, a tennis bracelet is the piece of jewelry seen only when you speak and gesture, displaying a momentary glimpse of your unique sense of style. A moissanite tennis bracelet endows you with a sophistication that doesn’t speak aloud, it merely whispers of its understated elegance to those with an eye for real beauty. Moissanite has been taking the jewelry world by storm, so treat yourself to a moissanite bracelet, and enjoy the combination of innovation and timelessness for yourself. Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve, but create a sense of mystery with the subtle beauty of a moissanite tennis bracelet. Choosing a diamond engangement ring that she can’t say no to! by Peter Crump
So you’ve decided to propose – congratulations! This is a moment that most women have been dreaming about since they were little girls, so you will want to make it as special as possible for her. And because she is the most adorable woman in the world, you will want to give to her a diamond engangement ring that is as beautiful and unique as she is, so here are some tips to help you choose the ring that is perfect for her. At a time when you would gladly give your fiancée-to-be the very moon and stars, your choice of ring might unfortunately be limited by a budget. While wedding etiquette books recommend spending about two month’s salary on a diamond engangement ring, remember that this is only a guideline. Love and romance cannot be easily translated into monetary figures, and so an expensive ring does not necessarily convey a greater love. Real romance is about matching the gift to the personality of the recipient, and showing that you have a real understanding of her personality, so purchasing a diamond engangement ring that you know she will love isn’t as important as the price tag attached. There are a multitude of great jewellers around – perform a thorough search for the ring that matches her, and who knows, you might just find a diamond ring at a great wholesale price. Most men, regardless of how well they know their girlfriends, have a distinct lack of understanding when it comes to jewelry! To gain an insight into the type of diamond engangement ring she might like, take a sneaky look at her favorite jewelry. Does she wear gold, or are her rings and other items made from white gold or silver? Does she like large pieces, or more subtle styles? They say that you can never buy a diamond that is too big, but many women prefer understated jewelry. If a good look through her jewelry case leaves you as clueless as before, then enlist the help of one of her girlfriends or a sister. Women tend to have a good idea of a close friend’s sense of style, so your new shopping partner should have some good insight on what your girlfriend would like in her diamond engagement ring. But remember – it really is the thought that counts. Your new fiancée simply wants to marry you and she will love her diamond engagement ring because it came from you. And if not – well you can always exchange it! (BNN) Most of us have jumped on the internet to buy books, CDs, computer accessories, and clothing. But have you ever used it to purchase anything big? I mean really BIG. No, not a new house or new car (although I am sure some great deals must exist on those auction sites) but something even larger, and by far more meaningful, such as a custom-made diamond engagement ring.As incredible as it may seem, it is possible to purchase the perfect diamond ring on the web. And it's not just any diamond ring. You could get the ring of your dreams--one that is perfectly matched to your ideal. It will be specially selected from a personable and trustworthy online retailer, who is available on a twenty-four hour basis, and it will be delivered anywhere around the world. How, you ask, is this possible? Well, log on to www.RingDesigner.com and meet diamond connoisseur Greg Gates. You may still have questions. How do I know I can trust him? What if he sends me a box of chipped glass or, worse yet, something that looks like it came from a Cracker Jack box? Or what if I get nothing at all?Let's just say you don't build a successful internet business in five years by not delivering. Anyone who has ordered from RingDesigner.com will be happy to tell you that the special ring they received from Gates either matched or far exceeded their expectations."The testimonials on the website thoroughly convinced me," says Keith, who had heavily researched rings for his bride-to-be before he was lucky enough to come across RingDesigner.com. After building up three week's worth of correspondence with Gates-- who responds to queries, questions and concerns almost immediately through e-mail or on the telephone--Keith, who lives in Dallas, ordered his fiancée a perfectly round stone on a simple and elegant white gold setting. Keith adds that, in addition to the personalized treatment, "the prices were almost too good to be true." RingDesigner.com is also part of the Better Business Bureau (BBB)--something you should always look for when buying online.Prices convinced Mike and Tiana, a young Texas couple also purchasing an engagement ring for the first time. They had comparison shopped at other ring websites as well as in brick and mortar stores. The results from RingDesigner.com? "We paid maybe one third of what we would have paid anywhere else," Mike says about the large, symmetrically square diamond on a bold gold band. "And we got such great service. I even changed the setting about half-way through and Greg quickly accommodated me on the fly."Fiona Lutz’ ring arrived by FedEx at her home, five hours outside of London, hours before her wedding. "My fiancé and I had been looking at the RingDesigner.com website for weeks. The site was so informative…but we felt a little nervous about ordering from the web." Finally, just one week before their marriage, they contacted Greg. "My ring arrived by courier at two o’clock in the morning on New Year’s Day, my wedding day," marveled Fiona, "and when we later had it appraised for insurance purposes, it was valued at three times what we had paid."Since Gates, whose RingDesigner.com headquarters are in Oregon, has the advantage of not maintaining costly inventory, he has eliminated some major overhead expenses and is able to undercut (pun intended) most other diamond sellers by as much as sixty percent. And it is not by compromising quality. Gates has complete access to a Tel Aviv diamond market’s database--over 9,000 independently certified diamonds with a strong emphasis on the Four C's: cut, clarity, color and carat. His rings arrive ready to wear or present, complete with all their diamond certification and a money-back guarantee. As a finishing touch, each ring is placed in a beautiful black leatherette box equipped with a light. "When my wife opened the box and the light turned on, shining directly on the diamonds inside, she was completely overjoyed," explains Dr. Lewis, a Florida resident. "Tears filled her eyes and she nearly fell over." Although it was a gift for their 50th wedding anniversary, this was the first diamond ring Dr. Lewis bought for his wife. Six kids and household expenses had always gotten in the way. But he promised her a diamond, and now she received a dazzling ring with eight inlaid diamonds across a slick gold band.Since, like the Lewises, not everyone can afford the ring they want at the time of engagement, Gates is quick to accommodate with a simple stone and setting that can be expanded upon as their marriage -- and savings--grow. Tracy and her husband, Chris, began their marriage with a small diamond ring and were looking to elaborate ten years later when Chris was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. Tracy, after many international conversations with Greg, chose a marquise-shaped stone with a wider band--and that's exactly what she received. "I really liked that I could design my own ring," says Tracy, who also built up a dialogue with Gates before ordering. "Greg is a real professional. He never pressures you."That's probably because he doesn't need to. The quality gems from RingDesigner.com seem to speak for themselves--or let the satisfied customers do the talking. In fact, perhaps another category can be added to elaborate on the quality of the diamond rings and the service provided by owner Greg Gates. In addition to the "Four C's", he excels in providing the "Four P's": price, precision, personality-- and most of all perfect engagement, anniversary or wedding ring!"
Diamond Alternatives – There Are Some Great Options by Peter Crump
There is little doubt that diamonds are one of the most elegant of the precious stones, and that diamond jewelry is simply a joy to wear. Unfortunately, though many of us are unable to afford the diamond jewelry we would so dearly love, as the great beauty and value of the stone are translated into the price that you have to pay to own one. Enter diamond alternatives. Traditionally, it was seen as a great compromise, a disappointment, to be forced by financial considerations into choosing from one of the diamond alternatives available, but thankfully, in this age of technological advancement, there are real alternatives to diamonds, stones that capture the same beauty, without compromise. Most of us, when thinking of diamond alternatives, consider more traditional replacements, such as cubic zirconia, first discovered in 1937. First sold for mass consumption purposes in the 1980s by the jeweller Swarovski, it gained great popularity at first, but later came to be considered as unfashionable and undesirable, a far cry from the real thing. But if it is the real thing that you are looking for, but without the enormous price tag that goes with it, then there is a new alternative that is so close to diamond in appearance that it is even fooling the experts. Diamond alternatives don’t come any better than this.Moissanite is the latest diamond alternative, and in some ways it is even superior to the ‘real thing’. Moissanite has a similar pattern of refraction to diamonds, unlike diamonds, it is hexagonal – which, to the lay person, translates into facet edges that are doubled when compared to diamonds, producing a stone that is twice as glittering as its ‘real’ counterpart. As those in the know would say, moissanite offers a gem with twice the fire of a diamond. Gone are the days when diamond alternatives were second best. With developments in the gem trade like moissanite, our choices are expanding and we will, no doubt, soon find that diamonds are not our first choice in the finest jewelry anymore. Diamond alternatives are more and more popular, and now are so good that they are as appealing as diamonds, but at a much reduced cost. Diamond Jewelry - The Ultimate Classic Adornment by Angela S Davis
Diamond jewelry is the ultimate adornment for a woman or even a man. It is something which takes us beyond the realm of time. Diamond jewelry is a timeless classic adornment, which can never go out of style and will always be looked up amongst all kinds of jewelry. In buying diamond jewelry it is important to keep some factors in mind. The diamond history, diamond shape (Diamonds come in more shapes than any other gem. Diamond jewelry with spectacular center pieces are available in round, emerald cut, heart, marquise, oval, pear, princess, radiant, and trillion. Diamonds as accents are usually found in small round shapes and baguettes. Popular earrings are usually round or princess cut, though some may come in fancier shapes), Diamond settings (such as bar, bezel, channel, chevron, invisible, pave, and prongs), diamond carats (The unit used to measure the size and weight of loose diamonds), diamond clarity (Clarity is the clearness of a diamond. The most valued diamonds are the clearest. When shopping for a diamond, look for diamonds with grades from FL to SI2. Stones from VS1 to S2 are the best value because they are lower in price without too many inclusions.) Diamond color (Diamonds that are colorless or near colorless are the most prized.) And diamond cut (The diamond cut determines the brilliance of the diamonds. If a diamond is poorly cut, the light is lost through the sides and bottom of the diamond and there will be no radiance) Diamonds are more commonly found in certain shapes; baguette, emerald, heart, marquise, oval, pear, princess, radiant, round and trillion. The most popular diamond shape has been the round brilliant because people believed it to be an "ideal cut" that displayed the most brilliance and sparkle in a diamond. The design also allows it to hide flaws and imperfections. However, new technology has made other shapes just as brilliant, such as the princess cut and trilliant cut. Today, there is no such thing as an "ideal cut" when it comes to diamond jewelry. In diamond jewelry, the diamonds are set in different kinds of settings. Some of these kinds of settings commonly used in diamond jewelry are- - Bar: Metal bars hold the loose diamonds in a channel-like setting. - Bezel: The metal is formed to fit around the diamond, cupping it into place. - Channel: A row of small diamond stones are set in a groove in the diamond rings. - Chevron: V-shaped prongs that usually hold a marquise or princess-cut diamond for solitaire style rings. - Invisible: Diamond set in a groove without visible prongs. - Pave: Tiny stones are embedded to look like the piece is paved with loose diamonds. - Prong: Several prongs hold the diamonds to let light pass through without interference. Though diamond jewelry is made of diamonds, which is one of strongest materials on earth, a hard blow can cause the diamond to chip. If proper care is taken then the diamond jewelry can last a lifetime. To clean diamond jewelry, use water and a little bit of ammonia with a gentle brush while being careful of the metal. Also keep it away from lotion, perspiration and other household cleaners. These items can dull the surface of the stones. Store your diamond jewelry separated with paper or bags, so they do not scratch or dull each other. It's also wise to keep the diamond jewelry in its original velvet box.
